Agent confirms Simon Mignolet wants Liverpool exit

Simon Mignolet's agent has underlined his client's desire to find a new club after the Belgian spent last season as second choice behind Alisson Becker.

Simon Mignolet's agent has made it clear that his client is looking for a new club after spending last season as second choice behind Alisson Becker.

The Belgian, who joined Liverpool for £9m in 2013, has spent the last 18 months playing second fiddle to either Loris Karius or Alisson.

Liverpool's decision to splash out £67m on the Brazilian goalkeeper, who played every Premier League and Champions League game last season, indicates that Mignolet's status as backup will not change any time soon.

As a result, Mignolet's agent Nico Vaesen has stressed that his client would be looking for a move elsewhere.

"The goalkeeper game of musical chairs hasn't started yet," he told Belgian publication Les Sports Plus.

"It's important for Simon to play somewhere, and our goal is still to make him leave. He's still got a lot to offer, and if we have an offer, we're counting on Liverpool making an effort."

Mignolet only made two appearances over the 2018-19 campaign, with his last outing dating back to January.

Manager Jurgen Klopp, however, has been impressed by the 31-year-old's professionalism and wants to keep him at the club.
