Zinedine Zidane: 'El Clasico victory could be turning point'

Real Madrid boss Zinedine Zidane claims that Saturday's 2-1 win over Barcelona could act as "a turning point" for Los Blancos in the final weeks of the campaign.

Real Madrid boss Zinedine Zidane has claimed that Saturday's 2-1 win over Barcelona could prove to be "a turning point" in the club's season.

Cristiano Ronaldo struck five minutes from time at Camp Nou as Los Blancos came from behind to record all the points against the La Liga leaders in the latest El Clasico.

Zidane's team are still seven points off the top of the table with just seven games left to play, but the Frenchman has said that the result will boost confidence ahead of their Champions League quarter-final first leg with Wolfsburg next week.

"When I see us like that, united, giving everything for your teammate, for a coach that is the best. I liked everything about my team - in attack and defence. We made a huge effort, against very good players," Zidane told reporters. "This can be a turning point - it is very important, for rest of season, for our spirit. And just before we play in Champions League in Germany."

Real Madrid have now won their last five league matches, which is their best run since Zidane took charge.
