Reading cruise past lowly Wycombe Wanderers

Goals in either half from Pavel Pogrebnyak and Jake Taylor give Reading a comfortable 2-0 pre-season win away at Wycombe Wanderers.

Reading enjoyed a comfortable pre-season run-out by beating Wycombe Wanderers 2-0 at Adams Park this afternoon.

Nigel Adkins's side thought that they had taken a 16th-minute lead through Jake Taylor, but the midfielder was ajudged to have been offside at the time of scoring.

Wycombe were not as fortunate later on, however, as Pavel Pogrebnyak fired the Royals ahead legitimately following good work from Jordan Obita five minutes before the break.

The Championship outfit were struggling to kill off their League Two counterparts, with Nick Blackman going close to adding a second when his 30-yard strike cannoned off the crossbar.

However, Taylor, whose earlier effort was disallowed, soon got his goal by confidently stroking into the net on 76 minutes.

It could, and would, have been three in the dying stages if not for the athleticism of Wanderers goalkeeper Matt Ingram, who produced a smart save to deny Blackman in the closing minutes.
