Juventus would have signed Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba during the recent transfer window if the coronavirus outbreak did not occur, according to Fabrizio Romano.

Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano has claimed that Juventus would have signed Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba during the recent transfer window if the coronavirus outbreak did not occur.

The France international was strongly linked with a move away from Old Trafford earlier this year, and it had been thought that Juve and Real Madrid were at the head of the queue to sign him.

The financial impact of the coronavirus pandemic, though, meant that neither of the two European giants could afford the former Le Havre youngster.

According to Romano, if the outbreak had never occurred then the World Cup winner would be turning out in the colours of the Old Lady once again.

"If there was no coronavirus, Paul Pogba today would've been playing for Juventus. Juve were ready to make an important bid for Pogba but with the financial crisis it was impossible," Romano said on his Here We Go Podcast.

The 27-year-old, speaking on international duty, has revealed that he 'dreams' of representing Real Madrid.
