Ryan Giggs won't rule out Robin van Persie return against Sunderland

Manchester United's Ryan Giggs suggests that Robin van Persie will play for the first time in six weeks against Sunderland on Saturday.

Manchester United interim manager Ryan Giggs has suggested that Robin van Persie could make his return to action against Sunderland on Saturday.

The Dutchman, who has been on the sidelines with a knee injury for the last six weeks, was initially expected to miss the remainder of the season.

However, reports have emerged this week claiming that the striker could be handed a spot on the bench at Old Trafford tomorrow.

Giggs said in his pre-match press conference: "Robin's looked good in training. Whether tomorrow is too early, we'll just see how he goes today."

Meanwhile, Giggs has insisted that he is not thinking about his long-term future amid reports that Netherlands boss Louis van Gaal is to be appointed as manager next week.
