Steve McManaman: 'No chance Sadio Mane, Mo Salah will join Real Madrid or Barca'

Former Liverpool and Real Madrid winger Steve McManaman insists that there is no chance of either Sadio Mane or Mohamed Salah leaving for La Liga this summer.

Former Liverpool winger Steve McManaman has insisted that there is no chance of Sadio Mane or Mohamed Salah leaving the club for La Liga this summer.

The attacking duo have been among the star performers in the Premier League again this season, directly contributing to 45 goals between them to help Liverpool build a 25-point lead.

Such form has seen both players linked with a move to either Barcelona or Real Madrid, but McManaman, who made the move from Anfield to the Bernabeu in 1999, does not believe that a switch is imminent for either winger.

"Real Madrid already have Eden Hazard, they bought Rodrygo last summer and they've just invested in Reinier in January, so I'd take a rumour like that with a pinch of salt," McManaman told HorseRacing.net.

"Regardless of how the Champions League turns out this season, the best teams in the world at present are the English teams. Real Madrid and Barcelona are not.

"They both want to start again and bring in a few new players because they've both had disappointing seasons this year, so they're both going to start turning their teams over. I don't think there's any chance of either Sadio Mane or Mohamed Salah going to either Real Madrid or Barcelona."

No two teammates have scored more combined Premier League goals than Salah and Mane this season.
