Hartlepool boss Ronnie Moore: 'Our season can start at Tranmere Rovers'

Hartlepool manager Ronnie Moore wants his side to kickstart their season with a win over former employees Tranmere Rovers

Ronnie Moore has called on his Hartlepool players to kickstart their season against his former club Tranmere Rovers.

The Pools are currently rock bottom of League Two after picking up just four wins in 26 matches, but Moore believes that this can all change.

"When I first came to the club I looked at the fixtures and this was one that I was certainly looking forward to, I really wish I could play in it, to be honest," Moore told Pools Player.

"I am excited about it and I just hope we can go there and perform like we did in the first half against Shrewsbury but carry it on for 70 or 80 minutes instead of just 45."

Moore's side started last week's game against Shrewsbury well but ended up losing 3-0 after breaking down in the second half.

"I haven't got a point to prove there; I hope the crowd are decent because I would like to think they know the blood, sweat and tears I shed over a lot of years that I put in to the club. It was so sad the way that it all ended there but it would be nice to go back and get a result. If there's ever a game I want us to win then this is it, for personal reasons and for trying to close that gap at the bottom," he added.

"Our season can start at Tranmere, that's what we've got to do. Let's kick-on at Tranmere and then go in to Plymouth the following week and get back-to-back wins."

Tranmere are currently one place above the relegation zone but could drop in if they lose today and Dagenham & Redbridge win.
