Ben Mee excited to face Alvaro Morata

Burnley defender Ben Mee admits that he is relishing the prospect of coming up against new Chelsea striker Alvaro Morata this weekend.

Burnley defender Ben Mee has admitted that he is relishing the prospect of coming up against new Chelsea striker Alvaro Morata this weekend.

Spain international Morata joined the Blues from Real Madrid this summer in a £58m deal and will become Chelsea's first-choice striker this season in the wake of Diego Costa's exile from the first team.

Morata came on for the final 16 minutes of his side's penalty-shootout defeat to Arsenal in the Community Shield last weekend but is expected to start from the off in the Premier League season-opener against Sean Dyche's side at Stamford Bridge on Saturday.

"It will be good to see what Morata is like," Mee told The Telegraph. "I'm sure the lads will show me [clips] and I think we'll have a few clips on him anyway and have done a little bit of research on him that will be fed back to us.

"For a defender especially it's worth watching strikers' movements, not too much, not overkill but I think you can get an idea of what type of player they are like. There are that many games on TV now you can watch and you kind of know what each player and each striker is like.

"Some players have different styles but that won't affect the way that we go about our business. We'll have a game plan and I'm sure we'll have the same game-plan regardless of whoever plays up front."

Burnley lost the equivalent fixture 3-0 last season.
