Sunday's League One predictions including Sheffield Wednesday vs. Derby County

Sports Mole provides score predictions and previews for all of today's League One fixtures, including Sheffield Wednesday vs. Derby County.

Barnsley vs. Peterborough (Sunday, 12.00pm)

Barnsley play host to Peterborough United on Sunday afternoon looking to rediscover some form ahead of the League One playoffs.

Meanwhile, seventh-placed Peterborough travel to Oakwell knowing that only a win will do if they are to retain hope of finishing in the top six in the table.

We say: Barnsley 2-1 Peterborough United

With both teams having endured mixed results of late, this is a difficult match to call. Peterborough will inevitably have to throw caution to the wind at some stage, but that may allow Barnsley to edge this contest in the final stages.

Our tipster partners are predicting over 2.5 goals.

Bristol Rovers vs. Bolton (Sunday, 12.00pm)

Bolton Wanderers make the trip to Bristol Rovers on Sunday afternoon looking to put themselves in the best frame of mind possible ahead of the League One playoffs.

At a time when the visitors will want to retain hold of fifth spot in the standings, Bristol Rovers will want to end a dismal run to try to finish as high as 14th position.

We say: Bristol Rovers 1-2 Bolton Wanderers

While Bolton endured a blip versus Accrington, they have ended the season strongly, which is in sharp contrast to their hosts. With that in mind, we expect the visitors to battle their way to victory in the South-West.

Our tipster partners are predicting over 2.5 goals.

Burton Albion vs. MK Dons (Sunday, 12.00pm)

Burton Albion Manager Dino Maamria reacts on November 27, 2022© Reuters

MK Dons' bid for League One survival will come down to the final day when they travel to the Pirelli Stadium to take on Burton Albion on Sunday.

The visitors are currently outside the relegation places due to goal difference, while the hosts have already secured their place in the third tier for another season.

We say: Burton Albion 1-0 MK Dons

MK Dons will fight hard in their bid to stay out of the bottom four on Sunday, but Burton have a respectable home record, so we think they will end their season on a high with a victory here.

Our tipster partners are predicting over 2.5 goals.

Cambridge vs. Forest Green (Sunday, 12.00pm)

Cambridge United manager Mark Bonner on November 15, 2022© Reuters

More than likely needing a victory to assure their League One status, Cambridge United take on cellar-dwelling Forest Green Rovers at the Abbey Stadium on Sunday in the final fixture of the campaign.

The hosts are likely to be relegated unless they are triumphant and MK Dons and Morecambe both fail to win, whereas the visitors have known for a while that they will be finishing bottom of the pile.

We say: Cambridge United 2-0 Forest Green Rovers

We think the U's will be licking their lips at this fixture as they are taking on a Forest Green Rovers side that are in woeful form.

Bonner's side need a victory to try and beat the drop, so we are expecting a fast start from Cambridge to set the tone.

Our tipster partners are predicting a home win.

Cheltenham vs. Charlton (Sunday, 12.00pm)

Bristol City manager Dean Holden pictured on January 10, 2021© Reuters

Cheltenham Town host their final game of the League One season when they take on Charlton Athletic at the Completely-Suzuki Stadium on Sunday afternoon.

The match is a dead rubber, with neither side having anything to play for at this stage of the season, but they will still want to end the 2022-23 campaign on a positive note.

We say: Cheltenham Town 2-2 Charlton Athletic

Cheltenham head into the game in good form, having comprehensively defeated ninth-placed Wycombe Wanderers in their last match, however they have won just one of their last four home games.

Considering just eight points separate the two sides in the standings, we expect the most likely result to be a draw, with both teams likely to get on the scoresheet, given Charlton's poor defensive record.

Our tipster partners are predicting over 2.5 goals.

Exeter vs. Morecambe (Sunday, 12.00pm)

Morecambe will be hoping to escape the relegation zone when they travel to St James Park to take on Exeter City this Sunday afternoon.

On the final day of the League One season, the Shrimps will in all likelihood need to better MK Dons' result to move up to 20th place, while the Grecians have little to play for, currently sitting in 15th place.

We say: Exeter City 1-2 Morecambe

Morecambe have shown they have what it takes to stay up with their performances in recent weeks, winning their last three games on the spin, and we expect them to move out of the relegation zone on the final day.

Exeter have been out of sorts lately, and the game means far more to the visitors, who are likely to come away with a victory by a narrow margin.

Our tipster partners are predicting over 2.5 goals.

Fleetwood vs. Ipswich (Sunday, 12.00pm)

Ipswich Town manager Kieran McKenna on February 7, 2023© Reuters

Fresh off sealing their promotion back to the Championship last weekend, Ipswich Town will round off the season with a trip to Fleetwood Town on Saturday as they aim to finish top of the League One table.

The Tractor Boys sealed their top-two finish with a 6-0 thrashing of Exeter City last weekend, and they currently sit on 97 points, one worse off than leaders Plymouth Argyle heading into the final day.

We say: Fleetwood Town 0-3 Ipswich Town

With the chance to top the division with 100 points and 100 goals scored, Ipswich should not take their foot off the gas even after securing promotion, and we back them to round off the season with another dominant victory at the weekend.

Our tipster partners are predicting an away win.

Lincoln vs. Shrewsbury (Sunday, 12.00pm)

Lincoln City manager Mark Kennedy before the match on December 20, 2022© Reuters

Lincoln City bring their season to a close when they welcome an out-of-form Shrewsbury Town side to LNER Stadium on Sunday afternoon in League One.

The Imps have lost their last two matches and will be desperate to end the campaign on a high, while Shrewsbury will be hoping to build on a decent result against Bristol Rovers last time out.

We say: Lincoln City 1-1 Shrewsbury Town

Lincoln will be looking to end their campaign on a high note, and they will be confident of doing that against a Shrewsbury side who also have nothing tangible to play for.

The visitors ended a poor run of form last time out, but we cannot imagine Cotterill's side earning a final-day victory in this one - albeit a point could be likely.

Our tipster partners are predicting under 2.5 goals.

Oxford Utd vs. Accrington (Sunday, 12.00pm)

Oxford United bring an end to their League One campaign when they host almost-relegated Accrington Stanley at The Kassam Stadium in Oxfordshire on Sunday afternoon.

The U's are virtually safe from the drop to the fourth tier, whilst Accrington need an unimaginable set of results to see their third-tier status spared for another term.

We say: Oxford United 3-0 Accrington Stanley

Oxford can play without the fear of relegation on Sunday, and against an Accrington outfit who are destined for the drop, Manning's men could put on a real show for their home faithful.

There is an air of regret from Stanley boss Coleman on how he operated during this season in terms of player incomings, and we cannot envisage such a negative backdrop reaping a result at the Kassam Stadium.

Our tipster partners are predicting over 2.5 goals.

Port Vale vs. Plymouth (Sunday, 12.00pm)

Plymouth Argyle manager Steven Schumacher celebrates after the match on January 8, 2022© Reuters

Knowing that a victory would guarantee them the League One title, already-promoted Plymouth Argyle will travel to take on Port Vale on Sunday in the final round of fixtures of the regular season.

The Pilgrims sealed their promotion to the Championship with a 1-0 beating of Burton Albion last weekend and sit a point ahead of second-placed Ipswich Town ahead of the final day.

We say: Port Vale 0-2 Plymouth Argyle

Port Vale have been devoid of confidence and any momentum in recent months, while their visitors have shone throughout the entire season and have their sights set on the title and the 100-point mark, and we see the Pilgrims scoring a relatively comfortable victory as a result.

Our tipster partners are predicting over 2.5 goals.

Portsmouth vs. Wycombe (Sunday, 12.00pm)

A general shot of a football from May 2022© Reuters

Portsmouth and Wycombe Wanderers square off on Sunday afternoon left to battle for eighth place in the League One standings.

A poor run of results during the run-in has cost each of these sides a chance to contest the playoffs, the clubs sitting seven and eight points adrift of the top six.

We say: Portsmouth 2-1 Wycombe Wanderers

While Portsmouth have struggled to get wins on the board of late, Wycombe seem to have mentally checked out on this season. With that in mind, we can only back Pompey to edge this contest, sealing the more respectable finish in the process.

Our tipster partners are predicting over 2.5 goals.

Sheff Weds vs. Derby (Sunday, 12.00pm)

Sheffield Wednesday manager Darren Moore before the match on February 7, 2023© Reuters

Derby County will look to keep hold of their spot in the top six of the League One table on the final day of the regular season on Saturday, when they travel to Hillsborough to take on Sheffield Wednesday.

The Rams currently sit sixth with a two-point lead over Peterborough United, while their hosts are guaranteed a third-placed finish and a playoff semi-final tie with whichever side finishes in sixth place.

We say: Sheffield Wednesday 1-1 Derby County

Derby County certainly have more to fight for than their hosts on the final day, but in a tough trip to Hillsborough, we do not anticipate them taking all three points and instead predict a share of the spoils in South Yorkshire.

Our tipster partners are predicting over 2.5 goals.
