John Isner came through two gruelling sets against Janko Tipsarevic to reach the Olympic quarter-finals this evening.
The opening set was a real slugfest, with both men confidently holding serve until the 12th game when, out of the blue, Tipsarevic was broken to-love as Isner took the set 7-5.
The second set went like the first with both looking impregnable behind their own serve and in no time the pair were in a tie-break.
It was just like the match with neither men letting up before Tipsarevic faltered at 14-15 down to give Isner the victory.
The American will play number one seed Roger Federer in the last eight at the All England Club.
