Young London Irish back Steven Shingler has admitted that he cannot wait for the start of the new Aviva Premiership season.

Shingler is hoping that the club can build upon their JP Morgan Asset Management Premiership Rugby Sevens Series victory and take that form into the new campaign.

"There is a great buzz around the training ground at the moment," Shingler told the London Irish website.

"The new guys that have come in have brought a lot of energy and enthusiasm. George Skivington and Cai Griffiths have got a lot of personality about them too.

"Winning the sevens has also had an impact around the place and now we cannot wait for the start of the season."

Irish face a tough opening fixture away at Saracens.
