Wallabies fly-half Quade Cooper is cleared of kneeing All Blacks captain McCaw during Tri-Nations victory.

Australia fly-half Quade Cooper will not face further action after appearing to knee All Blacks captain Richie McCaw during the Wallabies’ 25-20 Tri-Nations victory on Saturday.

The Wallabies defeated New Zealand at the Suncorp Stadium to capture the Tri-Nations crown for the first time since 2001.

The Queensland Reds number 10 was cited after the match for catching McCaw with his knee when leaving a ruck.

The charge was dismissed by SANZAR judicial officer Jannie Lubbe, meaning that Cooper is in the clear to participate in next month’s Rugby World Cup in New Zealand.

"I'm just very grateful and happy for a fair hearing and I'm just looking forward to getting on with rugby and focussing on the World Cup," the playmaker told AAP. "Any time that you have to face the judiciary it's going to be a sleepless night. I'm just happy to get a fair hearing and now I can get a good sleep."

Australia begin their World Cup campaign against Italy on Sunday, September 11.
