Jon Dadi Bodvarsson 'told he can leave Wolverhampton Wanderers'

Wolverhampton Wanderers reportedly inform striker Jon Dadi Bodvarsson that he can leave Molineux this summer, with a loan move to Ipswich Town a likely option.

Wolverhampton Wanderers have reportedly informed striker Jon Dadi Bodvarsson that he can leave the club this summer.

The 25-year-old moved to Molineux from Kaiserslautern last August following an impressive stint with the Iceland national team at Euro 2016.

Despite featuring in 42 Championship games for the side last season, however, Bodvarsson delivered just three goals and three assists for the side and was left out of the squad that travelled to Austria this week for a pre-season training camp.

According to respected journalist Tim Nash, Wolves boss Nuno Espirito Santo has deemed Bodvarsson surplus to requirements, despite him having two years remaining on his current deal.

Ipswich Town manager Mick McCarthy is believed to be interested in Bodvarsson's services, with a season-long loan deal thought to be the most likely option.

Having primarily recruited in defence so far this summer, Wolves are now expected to target one or more strikers with a proven hitrate as they look to mount a promotion challenge next season.
