Kevin Doyle "looking forward" to new MLS challenge

Kevin Doyle hopes to leave Wolverhampton Wanderers on a high ahead of his move to Colorado Rapids in the summer by helping them reach the end-of-season playoffs.

Outgoing Wolverhampton Wanderers striker Kevin Doyle has admitted that he is feeling "excited" ahead of his move to Major League Soccer with Colorado Rapids.

The Western Conference outfit announced on Friday night that the Republic of Ireland international will join them in the summer having agreed a two-and-a-half-year deal at the club.

Doyle is now aiming to end his six-year stay at Molineux on a high, with victory over Derby County yesterday evening taking Wolves within touching distance of a playoff berth.

"I'm looking forward to it. It is something completely different for my family and a big move heading to America with two young kids," he told Wanderers' official site. "I've spoken to Robbie Keane about playing in America and everyone seems to rave about it and hopefully I will feel the same.

"It's a few months down the line but I am excited and looking forward to it. Now it is all done I can leave all that until the summer and concentrate on Wolves. We have a great opportunity to get into the playoffs or even better – you never know – stranger things have happened if we could go on a run!

"Just to be part of that would be fantastic and to help the club get back to the Premier League which is where I think they deserve to be. There is an opportunity now and hopefully I can play a part in that and help Wolves get back to the Premier League which is where we were when I started here."

Doyle joined Wolves back in 2009, going on to make 177 appearances for the West Midlands side in all competitions and scoring 33 goals.
