Watford are reportedly considering a move for Ecuador midfielder Jose Cifuentes.
The 20-year-old has been capped on three separate occasions by his national team and played the full 90 minutes of their 6-1 loss to Argentina during the recent international break.
According to The Sun, Watford boss Quique Sanchez Flores has made a personal check on the youngster, who currently turns out for Universidad Catolica in his home nation, ahead of a potential swoop.
The report claims that Manchester City have previously been in contact with the Ecuadorian club to discuss Cifuentes, while Scottish champions Celtic are another side closely monitoring developments.
The midfielder helped Ecuador's Under-20s triumph at the 2019 South American Under-20 Championships, while he also featured at the 2019 Under-20 World Cup.
Watford are yet to record a Premier League win this season and were denied victory against Tottenham Hotspur on Saturday afternoon courtesy of a late Dele Alli leveller.
