Sporting Lisbon midfielder Adrien Silva has reportedly been identified as West Bromwich Albion's top transfer target ahead of the new season.
Soon after the end of the last campaign, the Baggies were linked with a move for the 28-year-old, who scored five times in 32 appearances in Portugal's top flight and the Champions League.
However, it was claimed that Tottenham Hotspur also held an interest and were favourites for his signature, leaving West Brom to look elsewhere, but it appears that they are back in for the player.
According to The Sun, head coach Tony Pulis is willing to push ahead with a club-record move, with a bid of £23m said to have been made for Silva as he looks for a new challenge.
Silva's teammate William Carvalho has also been linked with West Brom, but it has been suggested that the West Midlands outfit have no intention of meeting his £30m asking price.
West Brom need to sign a replacement for Darren Fletcher, who has left The Hawthorns in favour of Stoke City.
