Former Tottenham Hotspur manager Glenn Hoddle believes that Gareth Bale is not ready to join Real Madrid.

Former Tottenham Hotspur manager Glenn Hoddle has claimed that Gareth Bale is not ready for a move to Real Madrid.

The Spanish giants are reported to have made a world record £85m bid for the 24-year-old Welsh winger.

"It's a difficult one but if you're talking about the lad himself, I would definitely, if I was advising him, I would say he's not quite ready to go abroad," Hoddle told talkSPORT.

"I think he's had a sensational year, for him to pick the reins up in that form would be nigh-on impossible straight away. I don't feel he's quite ready off the pitch to make that move."

Bale scored 26 goals for Spurs last season on his way to being crowned PFA Player of the Year and Young Player of the Year.
