Celta Vigo's Iago Aspas 'shocked' at Spain call-up

Celta Vigo's Iago Aspas says that he is still "taking it all in" after being called into the Spain squad for the first time.

Iago Aspas has admitted that he is still "taking it all in" after being called into the Spain squad for the first time.

The 29-year-old, who has scored seven times for Celta Vigo this season, received a call into Julen Lopetegui's set-up after Chelsea's Diego Costa withdrew with a groin problem.

The former Liverpool striker has said that it is "every kid's dream" to represent their country and has thanked Celta for giving him the chance to earn an international cap.

"I'm still taking it all in. It's every kid's dream and I am very grateful to the club and to my teammates - it's because of them that I've been called; I hope I can be an example to all of the kids who come down to watch us train in A Madroa," Aspas told Celta's official website.

Spain will take on Macedonia in a 2018 World Cup qualifier on Saturday night, before facing England in a friendly next Tuesday.
