Spain boss Julen Lopetegui has claimed that it was not a difficult decision to hand an international call-up to Athletic Bilbao forward Aritz Aduriz.
Aduriz was part of the Spain squad at Euro 2016, but his call-up for this month's internationals against Macedonia and England was his first selection under new boss Lopetegui.
The 35-year-old has already scored 10 times for Bilbao this season, and Lopetegui is confident that the experienced forward will produce if called upon in La Roja's next two fixtures.
"Aduriz? I've followed him for some time and we understand that he's doing well. He can help us. The five goals he scored in the Europa League had no bearing on him being called up," Lopetegui told reporters.
"Aduriz gives us alternatives and options. Aritz has something very good to offer and is keeping his qualities intact."
Aduriz has scored 131 goals in 290 appearances for Bilbao over the last five seasons.
