Sheffield Wednesday's new owner Dejphon Chansiri has set the club a two-year target to return to the Premier League.
The Thai businessman was officially handed control of the club by Milan Mandaric on Monday after a deal reportedly worth £37.5m.
Wednesday celebrate their 150th anniversary in 2017 and Chansiri wants them to be a Premier League club by the end of the 2016-17 campaign.
"We want to be back for our anniversary," he told BBC Radio Sheffield.
"We will do whatever is appropriate to invest in the club to get them to the Premier League."
The Owls last appeared in the Premier League in the 1999-2000 season. This term they are 10th in the Championship, 14 points behind the playoffs.
