Real Madrid have confirmed the return of striker Mariano Diaz from Lyon on a five-year deal.
The 25-year-old made 14 appearances for Los Blancos in the 2016-2017 season, netting five goals in 14 appearances.
Diaz subsequently joined Lyon in the off-season and proved a hit at the Groupama Stadium, scoring 21 times in just 48 appearances.
The striker had been expected to move to Sevilla, but club president Pepe Castro suggested on Tuesday that Real appeared set to complete the move instead.
On Wednesday, the Champions League holders officially announced that Diaz had re-signed at the Bernabeu.
Diaz left Madrid for €8m (£7.2m), but the Ligue 1 side have reportedly agreed a deal worth a possible €33m (£29.5m) for the Dominican Republic international.
The player will be presented to the club's fans at the Bernabeu on Friday.
