Juanfran pleased with "great result"

Atletico Madrid defender Juanfran believes that Tuesday's goalless draw against Real Madrid in the first leg of their Champions League quarter-final was "a great result".

Atletico Madrid defender Juanfran has claimed that Tuesday's goalless draw with Real Madrid in the first leg of their Champions League quarter-final was "a great result".

Neither side would have been too disappointed with the final outcome, but Juanfran believes that his team will enter next week's return leg as the favourites to advance into the final four.

"I think it's a great result for the return as we were up against the best Real Madrid team we've seen this year at the Calderon," Juanfran told Cadena SER.

"They were superior in the first half but it's normal for a team like them to cause you problems. We got out of the opening 45 minutes alive. I expect us to do a lot better at their ground and get through to the semi-finals.

"We are a strong team with a lot of heart, a lot of soul, and I'm sure we can score at least a goal next Wednesday."

Atletico have not lost in seven games against Real Madrid this season and any score draw would see them advance from the second leg.
