Lee Hughes leaves Port Vale for Forest Green Rovers

Veteran striker Lee Hughes leaves Port Vale to sign an 18-month contract with Conference Premier outfit Forest Green Rovers.

Conference Premier side Forest Green Rovers have completed a deal to sign striker Lee Hughes from Port Vale.

Hughes has scored three times in 16 appearances for the Staffordshire outfit this season, but manager Micky Adams has revealed that the 37-year-old wants more first-team football.

The 52-year-old told the Stoke Sentinel: "We had a chat and Lee wants regular first-team football. He is a fantastic kid.

"He's not what the perception of him is and I wish him well. I have got great things to say about him."

Forest Green are currently sitting in 14th position in the Conference Premier table.
