Middlesbrough manager Tony Mowbray slammed referee Darren Deadman for his performance in Boro's 2-1 defeat to Bolton Wanderers on Saturday afternoon.
Deadman awarded a penalty against Jonathan Woodgate before sending the centre-back off a few minutes later for a professional foul, which left Mowbray fuming at the final whistle.
"I thought we deserved more than that and we needed a better official to referee the game because there were some bewildering decisions out there today," Sky Sports News quotes Mowbray as saying.
"The penalty was one of them and the sending-off was certainly one of them."
Bolton occupy the final playoff spot after the result.
