Manchester United reportedly failed in a late attempt to sign Atletico Madrid midfielder Arda Turan during the recently-closed summer transfer window.
After missing out on top targets Cesc Fabregas and Thiago Alcantara, Red Devils boss David Moyes is believed to have sanctioned a bid for Turan, who has been capped 65 times by Turkey at senior international level.
Turkish newspaper AMK claims that United met the 26-year-old's £20m buyout clause but were unable to complete a deal due to complications with the necessary paperwork.
Agent Ahmet Bulut stated last month that a summer move to England was "likely" for Turan, who had also been linked with interest from Arsenal and Liverpool.
