Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho is reportedly ready to open contract talks with Arsenal midfielder Mesut Ozil, whose deal at the Emirates runs out next summer.

Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho has reportedly expressed interest in opening contract talks with Arsenal midfielder Mesut Ozil.

The German's current deal in North London expires next summer and according to Bild, Mourinho would like to swoop in for the 28-year-old.

The prospect of Ozil extending his Arsenal stay look less likely after talks with Gunners manager Arsene Wenger stalled.

Mourinho, who coached Ozil while both were at Real Madrid, is reportedly keen to make the German a United player.

The former Madrid man, who is expected to be rested for his side's first Europa League tie with FC Koln on Thursday night, has won three FA Cups while at Arsenal.
