Sir Alex Ferguson 'to give advice in Manchester United's manager hunt'

Manchester United are reportedly keen to have Sir Alex Ferguson's input when they appoint David Moyes's replacement.

Former Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson will reportedly be involved in the appointment of a new boss, despite choosing failed successor David Moyes.

The 72-year-old played a large role in getting Moyes in the hotseat after deciding to retire after 27 years at the helm last summer.

However, less than 10 months later, club owners the Glazer family opted to sack the Scotsman on Tuesday following a dismal season.

Despite Moyes's fate, the United hierarchy are keen to receive Ferguson's input during the process of appointing a new manager, according to the Daily Star.

Netherlands boss Louis van Gaal is said to be in pole position for the role.
