Manchester United midfielder Tom Cleverley has admitted that he has learned a lot from Michael Carrick.

England international Carrick, who was nominated for the PFA Player of the Year award yesterday, is widely regarded to have been one of United's best players during the ongoing campaign.

Speaking about the 31-year-old's influence on his game, Cleverley has conceded that he has benefited greatly from having Carrick around.

"Michael has been fantastic for United this season," Cleverley told MUTV. "Growing up here, I've been really lucky all the way through as I've always had fantastic midfielders to learn from. He's one of those.

"With his forward passing and calmness on the ball, he just knows how to control and win games, so I can always be learning from him."

Carrick joined United in 2006 from Tottenham Hotspur.
