Vincent Kompany and Sergio Aguero return to Manchester City's starting lineup for the visit of Southampton, as Pep Guardiola makes three changes from last time out.

Vincent Kompany and Sergio Aguero have both been named in Manchester City's starting lineup for the visit of Southampton this afternoon.

The Belgium international has been restricted to just two appearances this term due to his prolonged injury issues and was omitted late on against Barcelona last time out.

Manager Pep Guardiola has recalled Kompany to the side for today's clash at the Etihad Stadium, however, while Aguero - left on the bench for the last two matches - also returns to the starting ranks.

Leroy Sane is the other player to come in from the 4-0 thrashing at the hands of Barca in midweek, with Pablo Zabaleta, Nicolas Otamendi and Nolito all dropping out as Guardiola again goes with three at the back.

In terms of the visitors, Claude Puel has made five alterations from the 1-0 defeat to Inter Milan three days ago, boosted by the return of Nathan Redmond in attack.

Shane Long is among those to drop out after picking up an injury at San Siro, but Sam McQueen retains his place at full-back due to the absence of both Ryan Bertrand and Matt Targett.

Record signing Sofiane Boufal is on the bench after recovering from injury and is in line for his first Premier League appearance, as Southampton aim to end a six-game losing run at the Etihad Stadium.

Manchester City: Bravo, Stones, Kompany, Kolarov, Fernandinho, Gundogan, Silva, De Bruyne, Sterling, Sane, Aguero
Subs: Caballero, Fernando, Nolito, Navas, Clichy, Otamendi, Iheanacho

Southampton: Forster, Fonte, McQueen, Cuco Martina, Van Dijk, Davis, Tadic, Oriol Romeu, Clasie, Austin, Redmond
Subs: McCarthy, Yoshida, Rodriguez, Ward-Prowse, Boufal, Hojbjerg, Stephens
