Manchester City are reportedly 'highly likely' to also receive a Premier League points deduction for their "serious breaches" of UEFA Financial Fair Play regulations.

Manchester City are 'highly likely' to receive a Premier League points deduction as further punishment for their "serious breaches" of UEFA Financial Fair Play regulations.

On Friday night, the Premier League champions were hit with a two-season ban from European competition having committed offences in relation to Financial Fair Play and UEFA's club licensing.

According to The Independent, the decision is expected to force the Premier League to hand out a punishment of their own due to licensing issues, meaning that a points deduction in England's top flight is likely to occur.

Pep Guardiola's side are currently 22 points behind leaders Liverpool in the Premier League table, while they sit one point clear of third-placed Leicester City.

Should the Citizens be unsuccessful in overturning their Champions League suspension then Guardiola will allegedly review his position as head coach, while Belgian attacker Kevin De Bruyne could also reportedly seek an exit.

The four-time Premier League champions will be looking to bounce back from successive defeats to Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur when they welcome West Ham United on February 19.
