Robbie Savage: Dropping David Beckham is "disgrace"

Robbie Savage thinks that it is a "disgrace" for Stuart Pearce to snub David Beckham from the final Team GB squad after including him in the shortlist.

Robbie Savage has hit out at England Under-21s coach Stuart Pearce for not including David Beckham in his 18-man Team GB squad for London 2012.

The Los Angeles Galaxy midfielder was widely tipped to be selected for the Olympics squad as one of three over-aged players after making the 32-man shortlist.

Despite these reports, the former England captain has revealed that he will not be playing for Team GB this summer.

Savage tweeted: "As a player Pearce was as good a left-back as there has been but as a manager he makes bizarre decisions!

"Maybe that's why hes not managing in the Premier League!! Why was Beckham on the shortlist in the first place, then not to pick him! Disgrace!"

Meanwhile, it is understood that Liverpool striker Craig Bellamy, Manchester United midfielder Ryan Giggs and Manchester City's Micah Richards have been selected in the squad.
