Brendan Rodgers looking to strengthen

Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers hopes that deals can be agreed for a couple of January signings.

Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers has confirmed that he is hoping to bring in one or two new faces to his squad during the January transfer window.

Now more than halfway through the window, Rodgers said that there are a number of deals that he is hoping can be completed in the next two weeks.

"We've been working on a number of possibilities that could strengthen the team and we have to wait and see how that goes in the next few weeks," Rodgers told reporters.

"The owners of the club have been great and if something is there to be done to improve us then we will do it. We are assessing a whole raft of players and it's a case of seeing if they are available."

The Reds have recently been linked with a move for Southampton's Jay Rodriguez.
