Steven Gerrard hails "outstanding" Liverpool

Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard has hailed his side's performance during today's 4-0 win over Fulham as "outstanding".

The Reds put last weekend's 2-0 defeat to Arsenal behind them by thrashing the Cottagers courtesy of a Fernando Amorebieta own goal, a Martin Skrtel header and a Luis Suarez brace.

"The manager asked us to bounce back this afternoon and we did that - I thought we were outstanding," Gerrard told BBC Sport.

"When it works and clicks we're emphatic, and it could have been a lot more. Luis Suarez is in the top five players in the world.

"A lot of people like to judge him for things he's done in the past, but I judge him as a player and he's world class."

Gerrard picked up a minor injury and was substituted as a precaution on 66 minutes, but the 33-year-old is keen to feature in England's international friendlies against Chile and Germany later this month.

He added: "I've got a bit of a niggle so came off early and hopefully I'll be ready for the England games."

Gerrard has appeared in all 11 of Liverpool's Premier League matches so far this season.
