Cristiano Ronaldo proud to finally score at Anfield

Real Madrid forward Cristiano Ronaldo expresses his pride after scoring his first ever goal at Anfield in their 3-0 win over Liverpool.

Cristiano Ronaldo has expressed his pride after netting his first goal at Anfield as Real Madrid beat Liverpool 3-0 on Wednesday.

Ronaldo opened the scoring with a well-taken effort before Karim Benzema added two of his own to take the points at the home of the five-time winners in Group B of the Champions League.

Speaking after the game, Ronaldo told Sky Sports News: "It was special. It was my first goal at Anfield, and I feel proud for that. I feel happy, we have won and got three points so it was amazing. We knew beforehand that Anfield is a difficult place to come, but I thought we played fantastic, especially in the first half and we deserved to win.

"I'm not worried about that record, I'm going to beat [Raul's] record, I know I am going to break it. Me and Lionel Messi is very close too because it is good work, but the best thing is the team won. We have nine points and I think 75% of the qualification is done."

The Portugal international also claimed that Carlo Ancelotti's side are good enough to be the first team to retain the European Cup in its Champions League guise.

"Can we retain the Champions League? Why not? We know it is difficult and very tough," he added. "But we will try and we are positive and I think it is possible if we play like that."

Los Blancos play their fierce domestic rivals Barcelona on Saturday.
