New Leyton Orient owner Francesco Becchetti has been backed by Barry Hearn to take the club forward.
Hearn ended his 19-year reign at Brisbane Road after selling his 90% shareholding in the club to the Italian businessman.
Hearn told BBC Radio London: "I genuinely believe he wants the best for the club and he has the resources to do what other people can't do.
"There is no question that Francesco is going to take the club further forward than me."
The 47-year-old takes over Leyton Orient after the side narrowly missed out on promotion to the Championship, losing to Rotherham on penalties in the playoff final.
