Preview: Guingamp vs. Monaco

Sports Mole looks ahead to Saturday's Ligue 1 encounter between Guingamp and Monaco.

Monaco will be aiming to maintain the pressure on Ligue 1 leaders Paris Saint-Germain with victory over Guingamp away from home on Saturday.

By the time Claudio Ranieri's side kick off proceedings at Stade du Roudourou, they could already be five points off the pace as PSG play their week 18 match against Rennes earlier in the day.

However, last season's Ligue 2 champions will head into the contest full of confidence, having won their past four league matches and losing just once all season.

Meanwhile, fellow promoted side Guingamp were expected to be struggling for survival at this point of the campaign, but they have defied the odds to move to up ninth in the standings after 17 rounds of matches.

The hosts will be boosted by the news that Monaco striker Radamel Falcao will not recover in time for the encounter from his thigh muscle problem, meaning that Emmanuel Riviere and Anthony Martial will lead the visiting team's attack.
