Everton boss Roberto Martinez has revealed that he plans to send left-back Luke Garbutt on loan for the 2015-16 campaign.
Earlier this month, the 22-year-old committed his long-term future to the Merseyside club when he signed a new five-year deal.
The full-back is expected to play a key role for Everton in the future, but Martinez has said that a loan move will best suit the youngster this season.
"The idea will be to send him on loan to get important experience. But it was very important that Luke wanted to stay at Everton, a place where he can fully develop his potential," Martinez told reporters.
"As a club we're looking forward to seeing his best years, once he's had that year away. At the moment we're very strong in that position but that doesn't stop us wanting to keep a very good left-back with incredible future."
Fulham are believed to be the favourites to acquire the defender.
