Rooney: 'I want trophies at Everton'
Everton forward Wayne Rooney outlines his desire to win trophies during his second spell with the club.

Wayne Rooney has said that he is targeting "trophies" now that he is back at Everton.

The 31-year-old completed a return to his boyhood club yesterday following a glittering 13-year career at Manchester United, where he won every piece of silverware possible.

The Toffees have not lifted a trophy since winning the FA Cup in 1995, a barren spell that Rooney is hoping to help end during his second spell with the club.

"I think for us all you want to do better than you did the previous year," Rooney told reporters in his first press conference this afternoon. "We want to keep pushing and bring trophies to this club. That's what we all want.

"The club are moving in the right direction. The manager will have his ideas on which players he wants to bring in and we'll all club together to try to do well."

Manager Ronald Koeman added: "We like to win trophies. That's a feeling that not all the players have at Everton. That experience to win titles is something really important for Everton and that's also one of the reasons we tried to bring Wayne back to Everton."

Rooney will turn out for Everton for the first time later this week in a pre-season friendly in Tanzania.
