England reach their highest-ever world ranking following FIFA's decision to push the Three Lions up one place into third.

FIFA have moved England up to third in the world rankings, which is the national side's highest-ever position.

Roy Hodgson's side have been shifted up one place in the list following their campaign at Euro 2012, which ended in a quarter-final defeat on penalties to Italy in June.

Copa America winners Uruguay have been dropped down into fourth, while reigning European champions Spain keep hold of the number one spot.

Germany sit in second following their semi-final exit at Euro 2012, with Portugal, Italy and the Netherlands staying put.
