Crystal Palace's James McArthur: 'We had belief against Newcastle United'

Crystal Palace midfielder James McArthur reveals that his side always had belief in their attacking play in their 5-1 win over Newcastle United at Selhurst Park.

Crystal Palace midfielder James McArthur has admitted that his side were confident of victory in their Premier League clash against Newcastle United.

Papiss Cisse put the Magpies ahead in the 10th minute, but McArthur equalised for the Eagles before Yannick Bolasie and Wilfried Zaha fired them ahead before half time.

McArthur scored late in the game to notch a brace after Bolasie netted earlier in the half to secure a thumping 5-1 win for Alan Pardew's men.

He told the club's official website: "This is obviously a completely different feeling for all the lads after the disappointment of Monday evening's defeat. We were excellent in the way we took the game to Newcastle.

"Even when we went behind I said to a couple of lads that I thought we had started really well and to keep going and we would get back in the game.

"We had a real belief about our game on Saturday and it was great to see us take our chances and it worked tremendously."

Palace are seventh in the Premier League after 14 matches this season.
