Crawley Town midfielder Hope Akpan will reportedly undergo a medical at Reading on Tuesday afternoon.

Crawley Town's Hope Akpan is reportedly close to joining Reading after the Premier League club had a bid accepted for the midfielder.

The 21-year-old, who is regarded as one of the best talents in the lower leagues, will reportedly undergo a medical at the Royals before the end of the day, according to Sky Sports News.

A number of Championship clubs had registered an interest in the powerful midfielder, but the chance to ply his trade at the highest level appears to have turned his head.

Akpan is expected to sign a three-and-a-half-year deal at the club.
