Chelsea goalkeeper Petr Cech believes that veteran striker Didier Drogba deserves a new deal for next season.
The Ivorian's current contract runs out at the end of next month, and manager Jose Mourinho has been coy when questioned on Droba's future.
Mourinho is thought to be in the market for a new striker this summer, which would mean that either Drogba or Loic Remy is likely to leave.
Cech told reporters: "If you have the quality to play, it doesn't matter if you are 40 or 18, you should have a chance to play.
"Didier and JT (John Terry) have proven a lot of people wrong and it's great to see they can compete at the highest level for another year and they will continue doing so."
Drogba turned 37 two months ago.
