Assistant coach Eddie Newton was pleased with the professionalism of the Chelsea players during their League Cup third round win over Wolverhampton Wanderers last night.
The Blues progressed to round four with a 6-0 win courtesy of goals from Gary Cahill, Ryan Bertrand, Juan Mata, Oriol Romeu, Fernando Torres and Victor Moses.
"If you show complacency and disrespect to the opposition you pay the price," said Newton. "We focused on the game, dealt with the matters at hand and we got a very good result and performance."
Moses, Cesar Azpilicueta and Lucas Piazon made their first starts for the club during the win.
On the trio, Newton added: "They did well, and we knew they would. They're good players and we see them do it in training all the time.
"Lucas has been fantastic through the youth system and adapted very quickly in training, making a very good account of himself.
"He deserved it today and I hope he gets plaudits for his performance because he deserved it, as did Victor Moses and Azpilicueta."
Next up for Chelsea is a trip to Arsenal in the Premier League on Saturday.
