Frank Lampard could decide against coaching career

Frank Lampard admits that he could walk away from football when he eventually announces his retirement.

Frank Lampard has claimed that he would have no problem leaving football behind when he announces his retirement.

The midfielder played his final Premier League game for Manchester City last month, and it has been suggested that he could return to Chelsea as a coach in the future.

However, Lampard insists that he has not made a decision about coaching as he prepares to begin his New York City career.

"I'm not someone who says they will miss the dressing-room banter. That's not really me," he told reporters. "I have a varied life and could get by without football if that's the way it pans out.

"I thought it would have been at the end of last season but I've had a nice swansong with Manchester City.

"This will be a big challenge — a different challenge. I'm going to a new country and a new club which is a test in itself."

Lampard could make his New York debut against the New England Revolution on July 18.
