Cesc Fabregas plays down Chelsea title talk

Chelsea ace Cesc Fabregas plays down talk of the Blues winning the Premier League by insisting that there is plenty of football still to play.

Cesc Fabregas has insisted that Chelsea still have a long way to go before they can dream about a Premier League title win this season.

The Blues stretched their lead over second-placed Southampton - who have a game in hand - to seven points with a 2-0 win at home to West Bromwich Albion on Saturday.

Bookmakers Paddy Power have already paid out on Jose Mourinho's side - who are still unbeaten this season - to go all the way, but Fabregas is adamant that nothing has been won yet.

"We know it is a long way to go," he told the club's official website. "We don't look at all the comments from TV, press or fans because if you start looking at it now, everyone will think that Chelsea has already won the title and it is not like that.

"We are professionals and some of us have been playing these type of competitions for a very long time and we have only played a few games really [this season]. It is a long way to go and we still have to do better than that."

First-half goals from Diego Costa and Eden Hazard helped Chelsea into a 2-0 lead at the break, in a half that also saw Baggies midfielder Claudio Yacob given a straight red card.

Chelsea, who last won the league in 2010 under Carlo Ancelotti, travel to Sunderland on Saturday.
