Celtic boss Ronny Deila: 'We were scared during Malmo defeat'

Celtic manager Ronny Deila admits that Malmo deserved to knock his side out of the Champions League.

Celtic manager Ronny Deila has described his players as "frightened and scared" during their 2-0 defeat to Malmo in the Champions League.

The Hoops failed to make the group stage of the competition after losing 4-3 to the Swedish outfit on aggregate.

"We looked frightened and scared. That's disappointing and we did that as a team. It wasn't one player here or there. It was a team performance that was not at the level we expect in these games," he told reporters.

"We lose and win together. That's how it is. This is my responsibility. This team was not up to the level we can be and I'm a part of that. I'm a leader in this team.

"We have to learn from this and we knew if we were at our best we had a chance to go through, but we weren't even close to the performance we wanted and Malmo deserved to go through."

Markus Rosenberg was on target for Malmo in the second leg, with Celtic's Dedryck Boyata gifting them a second by putting through his own net.
