Former Cardiff City manager Malky Mackay has dropped his legal claim against the Welsh club after agreeing a settlement over his departure.

Mackay was sacked by the Bluebirds in December after a disagreement with owner Vincent Tan, but after previously seeking legal action, the Scot has opted to bring an end to the saga.

A statement from the 42-year-old read: "Today, I have reached a settlement agreement dropping all claims I have made against Cardiff City Football Club.

"I did not want to be in litigation and believe that it is in the best interests of all parties to have a clean break and move on."

Cardiff, who replaced Mackay with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, have since been relegated from the Premier League.
