Neil McDonald seeking Blackpool improvement after slow start

Neil McDonald tells his Blackpool players to "learn quickly" if they are to turn narrow defeats and draws into three-point hauls.

Blackpool boss Neil McDonald has acknowledged that his side are already "under pressure" following a slow start to life in League One.

The Seasiders have taken just one point from the first nine on offer since their relegation to the third tier.

With a trip to Sheffield United to come this weekend, McDonald admits that Blackpool must quickly learn lessons from their opening three games.

"The league is going to be difficult," The Gazette quotes him as saying. "In the three games we've played so far we've only managed to take a point, so we are under pressure.

"We've put ourselves under pressure. We should have beaten Colchester, taken a point against Rochdale and won against Burton - but should and could are very big words.

"We have to learn quickly that when we are on top we have to finish teams off. And when we can't get our passing game together, we have to shut up shop. That's what we have to do better."

Blackpool, who were also knocked out of the League Cup by Northampton Town, are currently third from bottom in the league table.
