Stefan Effenberg turns down Bayern Munich job offer

Stefan Effenberg rejects the chance to become Bayern Munich's reserve team coach, reveals the club's general manager Matthias Sammer.

Former Bayern Munich midfielder Stefan Effenberg has turned down the offer to join the German club's coaching staff next season.

The Bundesliga champions' general manager Matthias Sammer said on Monday that discussions with the 44-year-old over taking charge of the reserve team did not yield any positive result.

"I am and have been in contact with Stefan," he told Sport1. "During our talks, it emerged that this is not Stefan's aspiration. He cannot envisage himself coaching a reserve side in the fourth tier."

Effenberg won the Bundesliga three times and the Champions League once during his two spells with Bayern.
