Report: Atletico Madrid open Yannick Ferreira Carrasco contract talks

A report claims that Atletico Madrid attacker Yannick Ferreira Carrasco has been offered a new contract at the Vicente Calderon.

Atletico Madrid have reportedly opened talks with Yannick Ferreira Carrasco over a new and improved contract.

The Belgian international joined Atletico from AS Monaco in the summer of 2015 and scored five times in 43 appearances for the capital club during his first season at the Vicente Calderon.

Carrasco has also started the new campaign in impressive form, scoring Atletico's winner in their 1-0 victory over Bayern Munich in the Champions League towards the end of last month.

It is understood that Barcelona are considering a January move for the 23-year-old, but according to AS, Atletico are hoping to ward off the interest by offering the attacker an improved contract.

Carrasco's current release clause is believed to stand in the region of £34m.
